BOWED FOUNDATION WALLS CAN BE REINFORCED WITH A THREE-PART SYSTEM FOR A COMPLETE SOLUTION.

Great Lakes Waterproofing can repair a foundation wall that is cracked and bowing by using a Carbon-Kevlar strap. We use the strongest strap and system available, which is a product of Fortress Stabilization Systems. The strap keeps the foundation wall from bowing any farther. The Fortress strap uses an Epoxy Rivet Technology that forms a two-part adhesive bond, acts like 8,000 mechanical rivets, and ensures that your wall is stronger than in its original form.

We also use a bottom anchor that attaches to the Carbon-Kevlar strap. The bottom anchor is 5x-plus thicker and 125x stiffer than our competitors’ products, because preventing additional bowing requires strength. The anchor is configured as a dual leg solution with specific contact lengths engineered to achieve a 200% safety factor. This bottom plate anchor is the best in the industry.

Great Lakes Waterproofing also uses a top anchor that attaches to our Carbon-Kevlar strap. The top anchor is mechanically fastened to the rim joist to engage with the building’s floor system, which increases the strength and durability of the anchor. This Fortress Stabilization Systems product is the only top anchor that utilizes post-tensioning technology, which prevents any movement of the foundation wall.

Several external conditions may result in foundation settlement and movement, including sand and clay substrate surrounding the structure, compressible or improperly compacted fill soils, and improper maintenance around the foundation.

Whatever the cause, foundation settlement and movement can diminish the value of your structure and even make it unsafe. Call Great Lakes Waterproofing for a free estimate, if you believe that there is a problem with your foundation. We can work with you to help find a solution.

Owners need to routinely check their structure’s foundation. Small shifts and cracks can later turn into significant concerns in the future.

The need for foundation repair can occur due to a variety of reasons, but it is commonly caused by shifting of the foundation. Commons signs of foundation problems include:

  • Diagonal crack in interior wall finishes at the corners of doors and windows
  • Cracks at the intersection of walls with other walls and windows
  • Doors and windows that bind or do not properly open and close
  • Uneven floors
  • Cracks in exterior brick, concrete, or other masonry
  • Separations of wood trim at the structure’s exterior corners

Crack repair sometimes also requires the restoration of a building’s structural stability, which involves reinforcement to prevent further movement of the foundation. Great Lakes Waterproofing uses Fortress Stabilization Systems’ Carbon-Kevlar straps in combination with specifically designed epoxy, to effectively and efficiently repair a cracked and bowing foundation wall with minimal intrusion.

The Carbon-Kevlar straps are used to repair, stabilize, and reinforce structural strength to residential and commercial foundations, as they are equally effective when installed on concrete block or poured foundation walls.

Satisfied customers since 1978

We purchased our house from someone who had hired them initially. So we are a license transfer of warranty. We had them come out to our house twice to service some water issues and they very prompt, courteous and did an excellent job. It’s been around three years now and all is dry.
Mark K.
“It was very good. They were prompt, came exactly when they were supposed to, did what they were supposed to do, and the crew was pleasant. It was the type of experience that you’d want if someone was doing work in your home. The job took a couple of days and it has worked just fine.”

Very good customer service and communication about the project at hand. I would highly recommend Great Lakes Waterproofing.

Very quick turn-around on work. Helpful people. Finally, I’m excited to be a home-owner!

I researched this company and discovered it invented the outside-injection process in the 1970s for sealing basements without having to dig up the ground/foundation. They understand the concept that, if the water is coming from the outside, you need to treat it from the outside to keep the water off the wall! Other companies only have the inside systems that don't address the source (external) of the water. Great Lakes has a variety of options, and the volclay-bentonite they provided for my house permanently stopped the water and mold!
